Live Review: Telstra Road To Discovery Grand Final - The Forum, Melbourne (30.10.13)

Without much in-depth knowledge of the Telstra Road To Discovery’s lead-up heats or competitors this year, I headed along to the 2013 grand final to be pleasantly surprised by the high level of talent. For the first time, the program’s grand final was held in Melbourne and featured program supporters Emma Louise, Bob Evans, Josh Pyke, Ash Grunwald and Scott Owen.

Live Review: Bob Evans + Laura Imbruglia - Karova Lounge, Ballarat (22.08.13)

Bob Evans has a special little place in my heart because he was actually the first artist I saw at my first ever music festival being Big Day Out in 2007. I was 15 at the time, so I’m sure you could imagine the excitement I was feeling and Bob’s set was basically my first insight into this lively and bustling environment that we call a music festival.

Bob Evans' "Welcome Stranger" regional tour kicking off TONIGHT!

One of our favourites, Bob Evans, is beginning his 'Welcome Stranger' tour at the Karova Lounge in Ballarat tonight. The tour, taking the singer-songwriter around to many of our regional venues down the east coast, continues through until September. The gigs are set to be intimate affairs, with Evans playing solo, allowing for some close and personal music experiences for the fans out in these areas that haven't been able to catch him perform with his new album, Familiar Stranger, yet.

Bernard Fanning to tour nationally as part of "A Day On The Green" with Sarah Blasko and Bob Evans

Beginning in October, Bernard Fanning will be touring the country as part of the A Day On The Green, the concert series held at venues like the Hunter Valley in NSW and Barossa Valley in South Australia where people go for the concerts and stay for the wine and cheese (or vice versa). Fanning will be bringing Sarah Blasko and Bob Evans along for the tour.

Live Review: Bob Evans + Tigertown - The Cambridge Hotel, Newcastle (09.05.13)

You know you're in for a good night when there’s three people lined up an hour before doors open and already there’s enough buzzing excitement to not only fill, but shatter the aptly named surroundings of the Cambridge Hotel's Glasshouse… (I’m not ashamed to confirm I was one of those three, the other two girls were complete strangers, but whose obvious enthusiasm proved infectious.)

ABSOLUTE BOYS

Album Review: Bob Evans - Familiar Stranger (2013 LP)

Leaving the suburbs behind, Bob Evans’ Familiar Stranger hits a lush, layered note. Cannily on-trend, in touch with all the latest tropes of nostalgic pop, it’s a departure from the acoustic guitar-driven sounds of his so-called suburban trilogy.
