BEST COAST

Splendour Sideshow Review: Best Coast - Oxford Art Factory, Sydney (28.07.15)

Bethany Cosentino is no longer just a chill Californian girl with a cat named Snacks who gets high and writes about her boyfriends. Now she's a chill Californian woman whose rock lyrics straddle mid 20's apathy and genuine existential crises. The music too has matured - from the minute long surf rock blitzes of debut Crazy For You, to the fully realised pop hooks of 2015's California Nights.

Splendour Sideshow Photo Gallery: Best Coast + Totally Mild - Corner Hotel, Melbourne (26.07.15)

Best Coast performed their Splendour In The Grass festival sideshow at The Corner Hotel last night, with local melancholy dream popster Totally Mild in support. Tony Proudfoot snapped the moments...

Single of the Day: Best Coast “Feeling OK” (2015)

Before their appearance at Splendour this year, Californian band Best Coast have released a new single off their most recently release California Nights. It’s called “Feeling OK” and has a really upbeat vibe to it in psych rock style complete with dreamy vocals. Give the lyric video a watch here:

Album Review: Best Coast - California Nights (2015 LP)

For a band to be named Best Coast, it was inevitable that they’d release a summer-tinged album that would fit well within any coastal community’s aesthetics, whether that be north, south, east or west coasts. And so it is here, on the band’s third LP, that they’ve put together an album of warmth and fuzz, the aptly named California Nights.

Splendour in the Grass Sideshows: Best Coast to hit Melbourne and Sydney!

There's something special about the way Australian fans have taken to Best Coast over the past few years of albums and tours. Whether it's that shared sun-kissed attitude between Australians and the Californian duo or a similar penchant for music that is excellent to bliss out to in the haze of summer, it's always a fun time when Bethany and Bobb come through. Although Splendour is in the winter, we're keen to see Best Coast bring some of the LA flavour back through as they return for some special shows in Melbourne and Sydney as well!

SXSW Live Review: Hype Hotel presents Wolf Alice + Best Coast - Hype Hotel (18.05.15)

Put together each year by the popular music aggregation site The Hype Machine, Hype Hotel has become a mainstay of the annual SXSW music festival. Every time the Hotel returns, it gets bigger and better, and this year was no exception, taking over a massive warehouse on the East side of town.

Meg Mac, Remi, Kirin J Callinan and more added to the SXSW Music line up!

SXSW have released another round of musicians from around the world who will be joining the massive music program as part of their 2015 program overnight, featuring a strong line up of Australian artists who are sure to make their impact in Austin next March! Included on SXSW Music's third round are the likes of Meg Mac, Remi, Kirin J Callinan and Tkay Maidza, while on an international level, punters can be expecting the likes of Circa Waves, Best Coast, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Marina and the Diamonds to showcase!

Album Review: Best Coast - Fade Away (2013 EP)

The LA rock duo Best Coast have been paddling around the charts since 2010. As a bit of a teaser before their next scheduled 2014 album the pair have released what they call a “mini-album” for all their fans and new listeners alike.

Single Stream: Best Coast "I Don't Know How" (2013)

Best Coast have released the first single from their forthcoming mini LP, "I Don't Know How'. The mini LP, Fade Away, will be out on October 18 via Jewel City with Kobalt Label Services.

SXSW 2013 Photo Gallery and Live Review: Best Coast - Red Bull Sound Stage, Austin (12.03.13)

The featured act of the Red Bull Sound Select stage, thanks in part to some last minute time changes, was Los Angeles' Best Coast who stormed through a series of their loved tracks and some new favourites, including "No One Like You", "Why I Cry", "Let's Go Home" and "Who Have I Become", an upcoming Clarks' shoes record store day release. The band were in fine form and high spirits (quite literally; definitely not sober), though were disappointed their under 21 fans weren't able to get in. And let it be known that Beth is a big fan of Fraiser. Here are the photos from Andrew Wade! - Larry Heath

Live Review: Best Coast - Metro Theatre (03.01.12)

A strew of lo-fi-loving hipsters filled The Metro theatre last week as Californian surf-rock group, Best Coast, took the stage for their headlining Falls and Southbound sideshow.

Photo Gallery: Falls Festival Day 4 - Lorne, Victoria (31.12.12)

The final day of the Falls Festival arrives and despite everyone being weary and dirty, the energy is still there. The Falls Fiesta parade at sunset is a highlight. The New Year is heralded in by Two Door Cinema Club on the Valley Stage and the fantastic Parachute Youth in the Grand Theatre. The party carried on till dawn, showing that the 20th anniversary of the Falls Festival was one to remember. Our photographer John Goodridge brings you these photos.
