Battlehounds, The Byzantines, Playback 808 & more win annual Clipsal 500 ‘Bands on Track’ competition

When the Clipsal 500 race comes through Adelaide next year, the official after-race concerts will be showcasing the talents of some musical heavy hitters, not to mention opening the stage up to some of South Australia’s best emerging artists.

The winners of the annual ‘Bands on Track’ competition have been revealed today, with the artists announced set to support the likes of the Hilltop Hoods and Hunters & Collectors as part of next year’s live music series.

For the Friday night hip hop line up, Sudanese refugee hip hop crew Playback 808 (led by the talented DyspORa) and soul hip hop group DC & DRAGZ will open up proceedings for Seth SentryAaradhna and the Hoods. Also on the Friday, Golden Era Records will be hosting a special showcase of their artists including K21Vents and Purpose.

Come Saturday, The Byzantines and Battlehounds will be supporting Hunters & Collectors and Baby Animals for the night of rock and roll after the heat settles on-track.

Says Music SA General Manager Lisa Bishop, “Bands On Track and the Clipsal 500 Adelaide, now in its sixth year, is an incredibly beneficial initiative for our local musicians. The experience and exposure of playing a gig on such a large stage and to an enthusiastic crowd, is a once in a lifetime opportunity for an emerging band.”
