Happy October! As we edge closer to the festive (and festival) season, we have national tours kicking off, more international bands arriving and some of our favourite locals doing their own thing around the country. Check out some of our picks for the weekend ahead, below.

the AU interview: Afie Jurvanen aka Bahamas (Canada) discusses developing new music & his return to Australia!

Afie Jurvanen has been making waves recently with his latest record, Bahamas is Afie. A stellar live musician out of Canada, the album the artist has been bringing to thousands through Canada and beyond over the last 12 months is basically what it says on the bill. Performing as Bahamas, Jurvanen has been blending some excellent pop and indie folk with some well-crafted upbeat rocky melodies that have been striking the right chord with growing crowd numbers around festivals and headline dates to match. This month sees Bahamas bring his full band to Australia for the first time, though it's not his first time in our backyard - he was last in the country supporting old mate City and Colour a few years ago.

Bahamas' Australian tour kicking off in Brisbane this September!

September will see Canadian artist Bahamas return to Australia, last seen in the country supporting City and Colour back in 2012. The muso known for work and collaborations with Feist and Weather Station is currently breaking through with his own work (even though he's got three smashing records behind him) and it's great to see him working his way back to Australia to build on the good receptions generated upon his last visit.

Live Review: RBC Bluesfest in Ottawa Day Nine ft. Bahamas + Dropkick Murphys + Dear Rouge and more! (17.07.15)

Though Friday marked the ninth day (of eleven) of the 21st RBC Bluesfest in Ottawa, it would also mark our last. And with a focus on bands more suited to a traditional Bluesfest - accompanied by the sort of rainy weather that our own Byron Bay Bluesfest is famous for - it was a perfect way to bring our week at the event to an end.

Live Review: City And Colour + Bahamas - Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide (18.05.12)

Whilst being a headlining band from the successful and recently finished Groovin’ The Moo festival, Friday night saw Canadians City And Colour grace the stage respectively at Adelaide’s Thebarton Theatre for their sold out show. I arrived on my own to catch fellow Canadian muso Bahamas, who warmed and welcomed the crowd with his opening support set. I then managed to detour my way around any smug couples and snuggled into a seat upstairs that was centre to the stage, where I overlooked an entire room full of Adelaideans; that was actually really nice in itself.
