BADBADNOTGOOD

the AU interview: Alex Sowinski from BADBADNOTGOOD (Toronto) talk Sour Soul, Wu-Tang, Jazz Fusion, and more

BADBADNOTGOOD have cemented themselves as a creative force to be reckoned over the past couple years with their powerful fusion of instrumental jazz and hip hop. Ahead of the release of Sour Soul, a new collaborative album with Ghostface Killah, the AU Review had a chance to chat with Alex (drums) about recording in an analog studio, the happy marriage between jazz and hip hop and why Wu-Tang is forever.

Album News Weekly: 28th January 2015

Single Stream: Ghostface Killah & BADBADNOTGOOD Featuring Doom "Ray Gun" (2015)

Five musicians and one very soulful, drum-heavy blend of two distinctive styles in hip-hop. Wu Tang legend Ghostface Killah and underground hero DOOM have come together over this evolving, jazz soundscape from the very excellent BADBADNOTGOOD. Check out "Ray Gun", a track which could easily soundtrack the next James Bond clip and instantly turn the film franchise into a hood classic. The track is taken from Ghost and BBNG's collaborative album Sour Soul.

the AU interview: Matt of BadBadNotGood (Canada) on collaborations, nervousness, and playing over New Years!

BADBADNOTGOOD have released three albums, all called BBNG1, BBNG2, and finally III. Sure, not the most creative titles, but the content of all three albums are swivelling lush sounds of instrumental composition. Keyboardist Matt chatted to us about their process and their upcoming tour.

BADBADNOTGOOD release single 'Triangle' and announce Oz tour!

.

They've received praise from all over the globe and collaborated with the likes of Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt and most recently Ghostface Killah. Now the boys from BADBADNOTGOOD have released the latest single 'Triangle' off their third self titled album III, and are coming to the land of Oz.

Album Review: BadBadNotGood - III (LP 2014)

Sometimes it feels pretty good being bad; BadBadNotGood have nailed that one straight up with their most recent album III. They persist on their album titles remaining simple, (Read: BBNG and BBNG2) something they can easily do when their music does all the legwork. Their dirty jazz improvisations and naughty hip-hop interpretations bring out a reverb-soaked suite of songs.

Live Review: OutsideIn Festival - Factory Theatre, Sydney (21.09.13)

I walked away from OutsideIn well after midnight with two things, an ear to ear grin, and a splitting headache. The people at Astral People had curated a collection of up and coming local producers, underground hyped international acts making their first visit and one genuine ticket shifter in headliner Hermitude. This made for a diverse and constantly engaging bill.
