Allen Stone on his return to Australia for Bluesfest and new album, Radius!

Bluesfest favourite Allen Stone enjoyed another successful run of shows out in Byron Bay over the Easter Weekend; an incredible live performer and a general great dude to deal with on and off stage, the AU caught up with the US artist to see what’s been happening since we last saw him.

With a new album in Radius out in Australia and readied to showcase, Stone expressed excitement about finally being able to work a new record out on fans out this way.

“We live in a day and age where, no matter what the label wants to hold from a body of people, they can find it and they can spread it. It’s so great.” he laughs. “It doesn’t make me very much money but…”

Stone’s year is full of touring commitments with Radius (keep an eye out for him at the likes of Bonnaroo and Sasquatch to name a few…), but he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“We’re continuing to try to keep the wheels on the pavement, man.” he says. “I really find that the thing that we find the most beneficial, is getting in front of people and playing the songs live for them. That’s definitely what I enjoy the most, that’s what really gets me off. Making records is fun, but I’m more excited to be around a bunch of people who enjoy music, rather than just me and a producer in a room! That’s not as fun.”
