Last Week on Late Night: The Five Best Music Performances on US Late Night TV (14th-18th September 2015)

Last Week on Late Night: The Five Best Music Performances on US Late Night TV by

US late night talk shows are a showcase of all-things celebrity, politics, humor, comedy and music. They are often treated as the final thing we see before we go to sleep. With The Late Show with Stephen Colbert debuting in the same 11:30pm slot opposite Kimmel and Fallon – all shows were keen to pull out the big guns in the hope of attracting/retaining viewers. Our own talk show fiend Lachlan scours the masses of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Late Late Show with James Corden, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Conan and now The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and brings us the second list of the top 5 standout music performances from US late night talk shows of last week!

New Music Video: Tinashe ft. A$AP Rocky "Pretend" (2014)

Tinashe's debut album Aquarius is out on Friday (October 7th), but has been streaming all week on Spotify so, if you're a fan of the US R&B artist, chances are you've been vibing off her incredibly soulful and groove-laden maiden effort for some time now. Often compared to the likes of Cassie and Aaliyah with the smash hit "2 On" featuring ScHoolboy Q, Tinashe has proven diversity in her style; when we spoke to her in Austin at SXSW, she did say that the single, while being an insight into Aquarius, wasn't going to be fully representative of the album as a whole.

Its size, slightly smaller than a regular festival, meant that it was easier to get around and criss-cross genres throughout the day.

15 of the Best Hip-Hop Posse Cuts

A posse cut was a common occurrence in 90’s hip hop and added to the uniqueness of the genre, emphasising that it is a culture much bigger than just rap; it is a movement, heavily dependent on collectives. You had artists frequently crossing paths and working together; constantly making and breaking alliances and competing with each other. This created one big, entertaining narrative around hip-hop, and it’s something which has been much too scattered post-2000.
