"The Ending is Just the Beginning Repeating" is the first single from the new Living End album of the same name. It is the last track of eleven and probably the obvious song to end the album on because of its content though, even to Chris Cheney, not an obvious pick for first release.
Cheney commented that the songs on this album are “Tougher and bigger sounding than previous recordings”, but while I quite like this first single, I can’t really hear the new sound. Those punters who are enamoured with The Living End’s beats and vocal style will love this new single. Supposedly experimental, it is so typical of their sound that within the first couple of beats it’s identifiable as a Living End number. The lyrics could provide the difference here, with a philosophical stance that highlights the fact that nothing is new under the sun. Still, songs of the past such as "Prisoner of Society" also held a message and as such, spotting the difference between new and old material is tough from this aspect also. Whether you like this or not will depend on if you think more of the same is a good thing or whether you were expecting a true departure from the recognised Living End formula. Sure to be a hit due to the number of loyal Living End fans out there.
