Paramore - Monster (2011 Single)

Monster is the latest song from band Paramore, showcased on the 'Transformers: Dark Side Of The Moon' soundtrack. It may not have the pure tongue in cheek catchy tone of 'Misery Business', nor the epic-ness that was 'Decode' but the latest single tells more of a story with a biting truth hidden within the lyrics.

This is our first glimpse at Paramore without the Farro brothers after their controversial departure from the band. For a bit of background history, the Farro brothers have issued many statements discussing their departure from the band, basically portraying lead singer Hayley Williams as an egotistical brat.

Indeed 'Monster' can be seen as Paramore's way of fighting back, with lyrics such as "I’m only human, I’ve got a skeleton in me but I’m not the villain, despite what you’re always preaching," sending out the message loud and clear.

Hayley's delivery of the song is flawless, and the aggression within the song accompanied by the heavy guitars, makes it sound unlike any other single we've heard from the band, showcasing a sense of versatility that can be hard to find when Hayley's vocals are so distinctive. While on first listen it may not strike as being an immediate hit, with its high-profile soundtrack placement and catchy chorus, there is no doubt Paramore have indeed given us another monster single.
