R.I.P Society Records
are fast becoming my favourite record label, releasing records from
Australia’s finest underground (soon to be more famous than Pete Wentz’s
penis) bands; Royal Headache, The Bed Wettin’ Bad Boys, Circle Pit
and now the new 7” from Brisbane lo fi minimalistic group Kitchen’s
Floor.
Side A begins with
Orbit, a fast lo-fi dirty punk song that owes its catchiness to the captivating
guitar and Regrets, a fuzzy noise-rock song that puts Arab on
Radar to shame. Side B shows a change of pace with Still
Night, which starts off with beautifully haunting vocals accompanied
by razor-sharp bass lines, enchanting drum work with distorted guitar
work (you can never have too much distortion); the result is a striking pop
song.
This is a great EP,
and I strongly recommend this to everyone because by the end of the
year, you’ll be busting nuts to see Kitchen’s Floor live.
