Melbourne folkies Husky are on to a smooth, summer vibe with these two lovely tunes from their debut album. Husky Gawenda, the man behind the moniker, recalls a less yelpy Ezra Koenig as he croons over the serene atmosphere of the music. This is especially the case in the gorgeous "Hundred Dollar Suit," with its warm keyboards and shuffling percussive rhythms establishing a very relaxed soundscape that's incredibly easy to listen to and enjoy. The latter track, "Dark Sea" mixes in a few minor chords and gets a little rougher on the acoustic guitar but is by no means less pretty - Gawenda delivers on some soaring harmonies that are to die for and swaying piano beneath it all. It's similar to the niche market that Boy and Bear caught onto late last year, meaning it's not quite groundbreaking. That said, there's a lot to enjoy here - Husky are definitely an act to watch out for.
