Dead Letter Chorus have somewhat burst onto the Australian music scene, all of a sudden playing festivals like Woodford Folk Festival and Peats Ridge, featuring in national television ad campaigns and touring across the country. Their new single "Yellow House" seems to perfectly represent their usual sound - it has beautiful harmonies, a steady acoustic guitar driven pulse and speaks of lazy summer afternoons.
There are many elements of classic Australian rock in the tunes Dead Letter Chorus create. In "Yellow House", many of these elements are used in exactly the right way. There’s a fantastic bassline and drum beat that keep the song moving along, and the contrast between the female and male lead vocals harmonising really adds a unique dimension to the song - it is reminiscent of one of Cloud Control’s tunes.
"Yellow House" is a relaxing, laidback song that is sure to warm your heart during winter - and I hold much hope for Dead Letter Chorus’ second album, due for release later this year!
