Possibly the final single from Dan's outstanding Nice, Nice, Very Nice to get an Australian release, also doubles as one of his finest moments as a songwriter.
Making full use of stunning whisper-to-shout dynamics, Mangan lures in his listeners through lush vocals and a simple three-chord strum, which is then kicked into overdrive with runaway-train drums and four-part harmonies that make Mumford & Sons sound like some Idol rejects. As far as 21st century folk rock goes, this is singles heaven - and, Canadian or otherwise, Mangan is surely one of the best doing it. If not the best.
