Accor MGallery Literary Collection: In Conversation with Toni Jordan

A truly beautiful property set against an iconic backdrop is surely enough to inspire even the smallest spark in a creative writer. There's bound to be a story that is born out of such a serene experience as spending a few nights in a luxury resort, taking that time out to reconnect with new, comfortable surrounds. Accor realise this, and that is why they have teamed up with organisation Wheeler Centre to present the "Literary Collection", across all nine of their MGallery properties in Australia.

Hotel Review: Adge Apartments (Surry Hills, Sydney)

It was an easy 15 minute walk from Sydney’s Central Station to our home for the weekend at Adge Apartment Hotel in the heart of hip Surry Hills. “Home” is the definitely the right word to use, as our stay at Adge felt more like a home away from home (please excuse the cliché) then a stay at your average hotel.

Match Wine Bar/Image supplied

We're still digesting our three-day journey of Wellington, New Zealand during the city's massive 17 day food and drink festival Visa Wellington on a Plate. Over 100 exclusive events, many of which brought progressive ideas to the table and showed off the hub of creativity that is NZ's capital, rocked the enormous amount of bars, cafe, and restaurants on every corner. Here are just some of the events which we managed to fit into our schedule, a small slice of what is an overwhelmingly large and comprehensive exploration of Wellington's drink and dine scene as well as New Zealand's famous produce.

Arts Series Hotel Group takeover Melbourne's luxury rooftop camping experience for two nights only

When Melbourne creative Jerome Borazio opened up the now famous St Jerome's - The Hotel earlier this year people understandably lost all sense of patience and began booking furiously to experience this unique concept. Luxury rooftop camping on top of Melbourne Central seemed to good to be true, especially when images of the accommodation began popping up online. The urban camp ground is continuing to evolve by welcoming a takeover of sorts from the discerning folk of Art Series Hotel Group for two days only this month, blending the personalities from each of the group's acclaimed properties with the distinctive rooftop hotel.

Flight Review: Norwegian Airlines (New York JFK to London Gatwick) DY7016 - Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner

Earlier in the year, as we flew from New York City's JFK to London's Gatwick to make it to The Great Escape, AU Abroad's Larry Heath tried out the service of Norwegian Airlines for the first time. It also marked his first flight on the new Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner. A budget airline along the lines of Jetstar, this route is often the cheapest way to get from the US to the UK. The only catch is that it's a red eye... let's see how Larry fared in this week's flight review:

New Zealand Dining: Exploring Wellington through the capital's biggest food and drink festival

Locals scrambling to catch floating Cuban sandwiches as part of the Cuban Air Raid/ Image supplied

Wellington has been named on numerous travel lists as one of the stand-out cities for travel in 2015, and we have a feeling that the capital's food and drink scene has played a very big part in that. As it stands, Wellington boasts more cafes and restaurants per capita than New York, and we aren't talking about a quantity over quality thing here; Wellington has grown as a hub of creative energy, and that creativity has been channeled into crafting a very diverse, very exciting playground for discerning lovers of good food and good drink. The annual Visa Wellington on a Plate festival is a 17-day celebration of that playground, encouraging a constant evolution of the scene to the benefit of locals, visitors, and participating businesses.
