Richard Thompson performs while The Milk Carton Kids look on...
Our third day started off on stage three with the phenomenal "Define Folk" session, featuring Oysterband, Richard Thompson, Geoff Muldaur and Amos Garrett and The Milk Carton Kids. We arrived just in time for Geoff Muldaurs' delivery of "Tennessee Blues", which had a beautiful heartfelt country blues feel to it, before Richard Thompson went on to sing a gentle Celtic folk song accompanied by a rich swirl of strings.

The 36th Edmonton Folk Music Festival kicked off today in style, bringing a mix of incredible acts to its suitably relaxed crowd. A four day festival, Day One eased us into the event with a 6pm start and strong line up of acts on just the one stage. Spread out across the grassy natural amphitheater on rugs and chairs, the audience soaked up the phenomenal talents on offer including The Dhuks, Bombino, Angus & Julia Stone and Of Monsters and Men.
Chicago is transformed by Lollapalooza every year, giving the some 100,000 attendees, alongside those who didn't get a ticket, the chance to experience the bands and the flavour of the incredible music that the event offers. Last weekend we headed to Chicago to check out the festival and also see what else the city had to offer...
The Novotel Atrium Darwin, or simply 'The Atrium' as locals call it, has been a long-standing popular hotel destination with visitors for many years now. Situated further down the Esplanade, the hotel offers a range of rooms perfectly fit for families, couples and solo travellers to enjoy. For our stay, we were put up in one of the Junior Suites overlooking the water and on the bitingly warm day that we checked in, being able to open the curtains to see the blue ocean was just what we wanted.
We've travelled to Edmonton, Canada to bring you Australian exclusive coverage of the 36th annual Edmonton Folk Festival. Paul McCartney hits the stage to a mammoth crowd.
Lollapalooza 2015 was a grand and hugely successful event (sold out, after all) that offered the best of the best over its three day lifespan. Spreading out across the glorious Grant Park of Chicago with eight stages, over thirty food and drinks stalls, lines of stores and some one hundred thousand attendees, this is a festival that doesn’t do anything by halves. From scorching heat to storm scares that led to evacuations on the final day, Paul McCartney to Metallica, and many many more phenomenal acts both old and new, Lollapalooza 2015 was packed with a long list of incredible music moments.
With what must have been hundreds of performances over three days on more than eight stages, Chicago's iconic Lollapalooza festival has its fair share of eclectism and choice for all attendees. And alongside the big names - from Paul McCartney to Metallica - there are plenty of unknowns too. Emerging local, national and international artists who the festival wants to give you the chance to discover. Our following feature runs through a couple of our own favourite discoveries at the festival, alongside our favourite performances from the bands we already know.
From the final day of Lollapalooza for 2015, Daniel Boczarski brings us photos of headliners Florence + The Machine alongside the likes of FKA Twigs, Twenty One Pilots, Angus and Julia Stone, DMA's, Alison Wonderland and many more! Check out the gallery here:
The DoubleTree by Hilton on Darwin's Esplanade offers excellent views of the ocean, is located brilliantly behind the city's main drag of Mitchell Street and offers travellers a great stay, regardless of whether you're in Darwin on holiday or business. Offering a range of guest rooms and suites to suit the trip, the hotel was once the old Holiday Inn (for those of you who know Darwin) and as the DoubleTree brand continues to expand within the Hilton's already well-established reputation, their move into the Northern Territory has proven to be a clever one indeed.
Daniel Boczarski heads along to day two of Lollapalooza in Chicago, and bring us photos of Sam Smith, Banks, Brand New, Hermitude, Tame Impala, Chet Faker, Tyler, The Creator (on his giant bed), Walk The Moon, Kid Cudi, G-Easy and many, many more...
Located between Chelsea and the Meatpacking District on the West side of Manhattan in what was once the National Maritime Union headquarters, a building sticks out with a unique design - like a cruise ship sitting amongst the concrete waters of New York City. This is the home of the not-so-inconspicuous, hip boutique hotel Dream Downtown. Not too long ago, I had the chance to enjoy a night in one of the most architecturally original hotels in New York City. Read on to find out more...
